System Integration
The Integration Phase deals with creating a complex information system that may include designing or building a customized architecture or application, integrating it with new or existing hardware, packaged and custom software, and communications. This can have different categories depending on whether it’s a product or product component and the type of artifact to be integrated (hardware/ software).
The purpose of the Integration Phase is to establish and maintain a standardized approach to integration implementation. In this phase, individually tested software/ hardware components are combined to form an integrated system.
For product, the integration types can be either software to software integration or software to hardware integration. For a hardware product component, it needs to be integrated with customer built hardware or software. For software product component, the integration can be done with in-built software modules or integration with customer built software modules.
